KTM received an impressive response for its limited edition RC 8C, selling out the first 100 units in just five minutes. With KTM gaining popularity among bike enthusiasts, the company has introduced its latest model, the KTM 990 RC R.
While still in the prototype phase, the bike is anticipated to be launched next year. The success of the RC 8C has paved the way for further exploration in their high-performance segment. The 990 RC R prototype features a trellis frame and notable components such as an aluminum sub-frame, blacked-out swingarm, and top-spec Brembo brakes.
Designed for dynamic performance, the bike has a weight distribution favoring the front. Its 990cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, delivering 126 bhp, is a step up from the 990 Duke. Equipped with a six-speed gearbox and standard quick-shifter, the engine aims for enhanced power. KTM emphasizes ergonomic precision in the model, balancing sporty aggression with ride comfort.
Tailored for track racing with added street comfort, the bike is speculated to include riding modes, traction control system, and IMU-related upgrades. With the European market launch scheduled for next year, the KTM 990 RC R is poised to compete in the sports bike category against models like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, Honda CBR600RR, Yamaha R9, and Ducati Panigale V2.
