Maruti Suzuki introduced Swift model in India, priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.65 lakh

The predecessor's price range has increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 37,000. The latest Swift features a modern design, upgraded features, improved safety measures, and a more fuel-efficient 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine. Interested buyers can reserve the Swift at any Maruti Suzuki outlet nationwide by paying a booking fee of Rs 11,000.

The company has already received 10,000 domestic orders and has an additional 30,000 units designated for export. Compared to competitors like the Tata Tiago and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, priced at Rs 5.65 lakh and Rs 5.92 lakh respectively, the new Swift leans towards the higher end. Even the top-tier petrol-automatic versions of Tata and Hyundai's small hatchbacks are priced lower than the highest Swift variant.

While keeping the design essence of its predecessor, the new Swift highlights noticeable updates such as a redesigned front bumper, revamped radiator grille, reshaped headlights and fog lights, conventional rear door handles, new alloy wheel designs, and updated tail-lamps with a C-shaped pattern. Although maintaining the previous model's wheelbase, the new Swift is slightly longer, narrower, and taller.

The vehicle offers nine exterior color choices, including dual-tone options, and introduces two new blue and red shades. Maruti also offers Racing Roadstar and Thrill Chaser accessory packages for the Swift, enhancing its sporty appeal both inside and out. The interior of the new Swift resembles that of the Baleno and Fronx, boasting a premium appearance.

It is equipped with a larger 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, new fabric upholstery, restyled air-con vents, updated HVAC switchgear, and a revised analog instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch digital MID. Even the base model Swift LXI comes with notable features, including standard safety elements like six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, and ESC. Hill Start Assist is exclusive to automatic variants.

With the new Z12E engine replacing the previous K12 unit, the Swift delivers improved fuel efficiency, averaging around 24.8kpl to 25.75kpl, positioning it as one of India's most fuel-efficient hatchbacks, surpassing models like the Wagon R, Alto K10, and S-Presso. However, Maruti's Celerio, in addition to the Grand Vitara and Toyota's Hyryder, maintain leadership in fuel efficiency due to their hybrid technology or smaller engines.

The new 1.2-liter Z Series engine provides both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox choices, generating 82hp and 112Nm of peak torque, slightly lower than its predecessor. Maruti asserts that the new Swift emits up to 12 percent fewer CO2 emissions.
