First unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo, the Tata Altroz Racer will feature a more potent 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine and a sportier appearance. Tata Motors is anticipated to introduce the new Altroz Racer in India as early as the following month.
According to an internal presentation leak, the enhanced version of the high-end hatchback is scheduled for an early June 2024 release. The dynamic-looking hatchback, initially exhibited at the 2023 Auto Expo as a more athletic alternative to the standard Altroz, will maintain increased power output.
The production-ready Tata Altroz Racer is projected to mirror the showcased model at the Auto Expo 2023, with anticipated features such as a blacked-out bonnet, roof, and ORVMs, along with dual white racing stripes along the length of the car on the bonnet and roof.
The interior is poised for enhancements, including a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Further upgrades consist of ventilated front seats, an air purifier, voice-controlled sunroof operation, wireless charging, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, and more.
The cabin's aesthetics will be an all-black theme complemented by leather seat upholstery featuring red stitching and accents. The key modification lies in the Altroz Racer's power source, adopting the 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine from the Nexon SUV.
The power figures will remain consistent at 118 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque, presenting a 10 bhp and 30 Nm advantage over the Altroz iTurbo. The engine will be exclusively mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The upcoming Altroz Racer is expected to compete against rivals like the Hyundai i20 N Line in the Indian automotive market.
